2025 Fully Online

26 Mar 2025
The Australian Photographic Prize will be fully online in 2025 with digital entries, and judging live streamed to YouTube.
As one of the largest photography competitions in Australia, welcoming both amateur and professional photographers, we strive to be accessible, affordable, and educational for the widest cross-section of photographers as possible. To that end, this year we are moving to online only. This means some changes to how the competition runs this year; live streamed judging replaces our in-person judging, with streamlined divisions and our widest-ever range of digital categories.
Photography events like the Australian Photographic Prize provide a fantastic opportunity for the wonderful photographic community to get together; the excitement and buzz of in-person events is hard to beat. This year, instead of holding one event in Melbourne, we will be encouraging people to gather state by state to celebrate the Awards Evening on Sunday 20 July at 5pm AEST. More details to follow closer to the date.
At the Australian Photographic Prize, we absolutely value prints - the ultimate expression of the photographic journey - and we hope to someday re-integrate print judging back into the competition. For 2025, moving online gives us the opportunity to grow and expand opportunities for entrants. With a spectacular 18 categories for entrants this year, including the categories we know and love, the return of some classic categories, and the introduction of some exciting brand-new categories, we are certain every photographer will find great opportunities to enter their work!
